CHICAGO -- History will be made in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, when Barack Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. Obama also stands out as the first die-hard White Sox fan to occupy the Oval Office.
In order to celebrate the accomplishment of this true South Sider, the White Sox have planned an inauguration viewing party at U.S. Cellular Field for all front-office staff. The party also will include special guests from the community.
White Sox caps are required for attendance, much like the one Obama frequently has been seen wearing on vacation or when he goes to work out. The viewing party begins at 10:30 a.m. CT.
A congratulatory sign for President-elect Obama will be featured at U.S. Cellular and on the Dan Ryan Expressway message board. Meanwhile, White Sox mascot Southpaw will ride on the "Illinois" float in the Presidential Inauguration Parade in Washington, D.C.
