A Message For Those Dependent For A Valentine

So here you are.  Your alone on Valentine's Day with nothing better to do then feel like a super lame EMO kid who is one bad rock song away from slitting their wrists.  Well, my advice to you?  Grow the Hell up.  Sorry I couldn't really keep that back but I have to be honest with you.  I've come across so many people who feel "Dependent" on hoping or wishing for a Valentine's sweetie to sweep them off their feet and make them feel like a little angel or expect them to buy this super expensive gift or whatnot.  Seriously, just look at this situation your putting yourself through.  Setting expectations for someone who probably doesn't even know you or know you exist.  Now I know what your thinking, "Damn, Saúl is being a jerk right now, he must really hate Valentine's Day."  What I would say to you is that your assumption couldn't be far from accurate about my view on Valentine's Day.  I literary enjoy that day completely.  Being the attractive and superb bachelor that I am, it's so sad when I come across females that I might be interested in at this time of year, and they "break down" when they are single during this time of the year. They feel like their world is gonna end or that it's more like "Single Awareness Day" then anything else.  Truth be told, your life is what you make of it.  If you are currently mad at me while reading this post then you maybe one of the many who feel that they "Need" to be with someone so that they can be happy.  Spend the day with your family if it bothers you that much.  Hang out with friends if you feel the need to be around people other then your family.  Again, my apologies if I've offended you but the reality is you need to take a step back and appreciate yourself for who YOU ARE before you can make the next step of receiving that appreciation from someone else.  The equivalent is that one girl in your group of friends that need to have the most attention or material possessions just to feel better about themselves, aka Gold Diggers.  And in case you are wondering, I do have an awesome day planned for Valentine's thanks for asking.  In the meantime in between time, keep your eyes here for new posts.

My Send Off for 2010 - The End of a Challenging Year...

I wanted to take a moment to address my thoughts on the year 2010.  I was a very hard year for me.  As most probably don't know, I have gone through a lot of life changes that challenged me in a way that I wouldn't have imagined.  Some great, well love people have left us and friends have been hurt.  I finally can say that I will officially be able to move on from all the negative people in my life.  Some former friends, some more then friends.  I have endured something I never thought I could move past from and the proof has arrived right before my eyes.  I am willing to take more changes and learn more.  Open myself up and work to become a better friend, brother, son, uncle, and god-father in the year to come.  This moment of reflection comes to me as a sign that no matter how hurt you can become, no matter how left out to dry your life has been, or even how bad your situation has become, as a person we can only learn from our mistakes and efforts and move forward with it.  There are a lot of people in my life I had to give up on, that I wish I never did. But I realized something about that, it was never me who gave up on them, it was them, they gave up on me, or us. However the situation looks, I strive to work at making it better, but you can never help someone who wishes not to be helped.  So I leave you all with this message...

"Don't worry about what resolutions you need to make for next year. Celebrate the accomplishments you made in this one. Celebrate the memories you've made and the people in your life. And also celebrate that you have a chance to do it again..."

I've got an amazing and very challenging year ahead of me as I assume you all do.  Let praise and be thankful for another shot at meeting new people and share great memories!  I dedicate this song to 2010!

Las Vegas 2010 - Aftermath

I just finished editing a short video of our trip from Vegas. The full production will come in the form of a new BHP ENT-TV Episode. We did lots if drinking, walking and other fun shit. Most won't be told due to the laws of Vegas but you know you can count on me bringing my peeps the fun we had back with us. This will be my final update for the trip. Tomorrow I've got lots of sleep to catch up on while I was out. Much props to my cousin Tommy for taking care of things while I was out, thanks for holding it down for me. The time has come!  The White Sox are killing the competition right now and I'm anxiously waiting for the next game to take place.  In fact, in about 5 hours I will be heading out with the B.H.P. Krew down to the South side to enjoy the number one team in the American League Central Division.  We meet up with some mutual friends to catch up and enjoy some good southside baseball.  We will be working on some new matercial for the next episode of B.H.P. "What Kind of Puerto Rican Are You?" - I didn't know that we actually still do this.

It's been a little bit of time since I have taken a moment to post up a topic other then my current project (The Relationship Story), but this was something I couldn't pass up.

It all started when most recently I was confronted by someone who was intrigued by my name.  Which happens from time to time.  So, I begin to engage in this conversation as I would normally do as the pleasant person that I am.  I begin to describe the process to actually pronounce my name and was happy to know that the person asking knew how to pronounce it correctly with no effort.  Afterwards, she begins to wonder what nationality I am, which is always a common follow up topic after the questioning of my name.  "So what nationality are you?" she asks, I reply "I'm Puerto Rican." So, afterwards she then begins to say the most stupidest question I have always heard growing up in the midwest and places in between.  "Oh, you don't look Puerto Rican."  REALLY?  I don't look Puerto Rican?  This has always been something some family members of mine and myself have dealt with growing up.  So, in the smart ass manner that everyone knows me for I begin to ask back, "Oh, what's a Puerto Rican supposed to look like?" And for about 100% of the time I get the same answer back.  "I don't know."  WOW.  That is very amazing, not only do I NOT look like a Puerto Rican, but you don't even have a definition of what one is supposed to look like.  So as this continues, she then asks a first for you boy Saúl.  "What kind of Puerto Rican are you?"  HOLY SHIT.  I didn't know what to say at first for a moment, I paused, not because I didn't know what to say but because I really felt like that was so racist.  But it gets better, I ask her what her nationality was, and guess what, SHE'S PUERTO RICAN!!!  So, to go back and answer her question, I did it the only way I knew how.  I responded to her, "I didn't know we segregated our nationality.  That is amazing, you are the first person ever to ask what kind of Puerto Rican I am."  She looked at my like I was being a smart ass, which I sure was.  She replies back with, "Of course there are, you look like a New York Rican.  Are you serious?  That's like asking what kind of White person you are, are you a Chicago White person or a Virginia White person?  Or, are you an Atlanta Black person or a California Black person?  So then I ask her what is a New York Rican?  She said they are loud talkers, and have a lot of tattoos.  On the real, I wanted to erase the ignorance out of her so bad, but I kept my composure and decided to just walk away from the conversation.  And she became very upset at the fact that I told her that we segregated our people.  Well, in my eyes it looked like segregation.  This is a human being, someone who has influence to her kids, family, or friends.  And so I decided to end my celebration of Hispanic Heritage month with a simple thought.  If you are from a particular ethnicity, and you yourself question the appearance of someone's nationality, please be considerate and know the fine line that you may cross.  Need another example?  Well I have many, ranging from people telling me that I needed to have a tattoo on my neck, and a bad childhood.  So, I leave all the my friends and followers with this video.  It's a smart jab at those out there in our world, latino or not, who still paint a picture of requirements to fit a race or type of lifestyle.  Please don't be one of these people and know that people of all walks of life can look different and have different physical traits, but still acknowledge their ethnic roots.  Till next time!  God Bless!

BHPTV: Latest Episode - Police Arrest Drunks At GlenFail Heights Festival

What's better then going to a free entry festival with a beer tent, DJ, and live rock show? Well, if you add in drunk people who don't care for self composure and police itching for an arrest to keep the peace, you get a unique arrest taking place in the middle of a crowd watching 7th Heaven (Local Rock Band) performing all the drunk classics! This happened during the Glendale Heights Festival where apparently the city has turned 50. I was invited by a buddy of mine to attend a BBQ to close out my Sunday evening. We then decided to walk down to the festival to enjoy some more drinking and also the fireworks show. The fireworks show happened this Sunday due to some issue or mis-scheduling of not having fireworks on the 4th of July in Glendale Heights. So here I am enjoying the good music from 7th Heaven and BAM! All of a sudden this drunk guy with his extra drunk girlfriend/wife start walking through and I guess seemed to be pushing people into a mosh pit frenzy. This couple was well into their late 40's-early 50's. How everything unloaded within a second was really hard to tell, all I can say is that I just happened to be right behind the action and decided to get it all on video for later review. The part that gets me the most is that there are still people partying and dancing like nothing strange is happening. What if this guy had a gun? What if this was more extreme then it was? Now, because I knew what was going on I felt safe staying and recording the arrest. However, I know better then to stay whenever there is a crowd of people and police show up. My reasoning behind this is all the events I have done with the City Of Chicago and seeing people in this situation and it usually involves someone getting stabbed or shot, and I've learned to always make like a tree and leave.
