Absolute Power, Corrupts Absolutely (Mixtape Project)

So here's one of my Projects that I'll be working on this year.  I am currently involved in the production of a HIGH QUALITY Mixtape for a good friend of mine.  This Mixtape is on the verge of being HIGH QUALITY that it should be considered an actual album release.  Just the thought, energy, creativity and overall effort being put into this places it into that type of category.  Not many details can be actually discussed about as of right now due to the whole idea of what will be put into action, but what I can say is that I will be featured on a couple of his tracks. Plus, from the recording session we had today, I can also tell you that this is gonna be really good.  I'll be keeping people posted on here about it's progress as it develops.

Now, I know what some of you might be thinking or didn't even know about me before I worked on this Mixtape.  The reality is that I was working on a GROUP Mixtape before this one.  Well that's true I was working on one already.  However, there were some changes with people and scheduling so I had to put it off on the back burner for now.  It's not too bad of a situation because I'm still learning to write better then I've been writing so far.  I just want to put out a really good product and won't accept anything less.  So when the times right, it will be released.  My intentions is that it will be sometime before 2012 ends. (Sound weird saying before 2012 ends right?  Like the end of the world and stuff? Weird!)

I also have some other Projects I'm working on too.  In fact, every project I'm working on this year is on a pretty big scale then I would have thought of doing.  Keep your eyes peeled for another post highlighting another one of my efforts to making my 2012 a successful one.

New Year...New Project...New Goals...Same B.H.P.

Yes! The new year is finally upon us and there is much to talk about.  First things first, I want to thank everyone that came out to my New Years party last night.  It was so much fun and I can wait to put together all the photos that we took from that night.  Also I understand we got some good video clips shot from my brother. Hopefully that makes it past the cutting room floor and on to a video post.  I was running a photo booth from my iMac so that all the guests at my party can take photos from the party.  It was all in good fun and I will be posting most of them on some of my social networking sites.  Here are some of the ones I thought were pretty cool.

 

Speaking of awesome photos. I wanted to try something new this year as a little hobby. Yes, I need another hobby. Not only have I been working on a mix-tape, and a YouTube Channel, and The B.H.P. Blog / Facebook Fan Page, but I also want to work on my photography as well. So I decided to start my very first Project 365 flickr® photo stream. The way this works is that everyday for 2011 I will be uploading one photo a day. There is no special type of photo or reason of photo just a plain old photo onto my flickr® photo stream. I also have the option of touching up the image too to add effect but they point of the project is to upload one photo a day till the end of 2011. So here goes with today's image.

My Send Off for 2010 - The End of a Challenging Year...

I wanted to take a moment to address my thoughts on the year 2010.  I was a very hard year for me.  As most probably don't know, I have gone through a lot of life changes that challenged me in a way that I wouldn't have imagined.  Some great, well love people have left us and friends have been hurt.  I finally can say that I will officially be able to move on from all the negative people in my life.  Some former friends, some more then friends.  I have endured something I never thought I could move past from and the proof has arrived right before my eyes.  I am willing to take more changes and learn more.  Open myself up and work to become a better friend, brother, son, uncle, and god-father in the year to come.  This moment of reflection comes to me as a sign that no matter how hurt you can become, no matter how left out to dry your life has been, or even how bad your situation has become, as a person we can only learn from our mistakes and efforts and move forward with it.  There are a lot of people in my life I had to give up on, that I wish I never did. But I realized something about that, it was never me who gave up on them, it was them, they gave up on me, or us. However the situation looks, I strive to work at making it better, but you can never help someone who wishes not to be helped.  So I leave you all with this message...

"Don't worry about what resolutions you need to make for next year. Celebrate the accomplishments you made in this one. Celebrate the memories you've made and the people in your life. And also celebrate that you have a chance to do it again..."

I've got an amazing and very challenging year ahead of me as I assume you all do.  Let praise and be thankful for another shot at meeting new people and share great memories!  I dedicate this song to 2010!

Updates on My Current Projects

"Month At The Museum" 
I was trying to see how long I could make it through the selection process for this until I made it public.  But alas my friends, I didn't make it past the second round.  I think that I would have been a great choice for this experiment and know that they missed out on a great opportunity in choosing me, but hope that their experiment goes great and wish the winner the best of luck.  I guess it's on to the next one.  As a little laugh and giggle, here is my promo video for the project that I submitted.  The following YouTube Videos contain a thank you from the Museum of Science and Industry along with my Promo Video for the application process.

"Mixtape: The Cellsmen"

This has been a great experience and perfect summer project for myself. What started as something to do just for kicks, has turned into a great experience for me as a writer. It has put me through an experience where I can try paint a picture with words. Most of the songs are fun and funny, while there are a couple that are more serious, either way I'm pretty happy with the way production has been coming along. Look for this to come out near the end of September.

"YouTube Channel"

What can I say about this? It is so much fun doing this thing! The production and storyboard take sometime but in the end it is definitely worth it. I have gotten some great feedback and hope to apply it to future episodes.

"The Relationship Story"

This has been such a mind free experience and I want to finish it so bad, but also want to make sure that I don't water-down the content. I have decided to take a small break from this and hope to resume back to writing the rest of the story near the years end.

This is it! The first single off the MixTape: "The CellsMen". This is the song that pretty much made me decide to go ahead with creating a mix-tape with my two other friends. Absolute and El Zómbi. "Zombie Swag" is about having Swag that just never dies or stops. It's 24/7 365 all day and night. Please know that this mix-tape is purely for entertainment, I look at this as a challenge as a writer and a poet. How far can I get? How many songs can I really write or do? Also know as in true mix-tape fashion, some beats might come to mind from familiar songs you might have heard on the radio and some you might not have, there are also a few beats that are original as well.  The writing and lyrics are original. We each came to the mic with our own lyrics, so each verse is completely written by the one who performs it on the song. So please feel free to hate, praise, or encourage feedback. I do realize that some may think this is a real conceded thing to do, and can be true to say so, but at the same time it was a challenge I wanted to step up to. So if you don't like it, EAT ME!  :-P
